I am proud to announce that the TVS900 based supercharger kit for the Mx5 Mk1-2.5 is now available to order. This kit uses the most modern Eaton supercharger technology, a hand built twin core Laminova chargecooler, and a beautiful cnc machined manifold to deliver unrivalled performance.
The Coldside Engineering TVS900 kit builds on all of my experience developing supercharger systems on my car since 2015. This kit can be geared to deliver 250-280bhp on a stock block engine, with a wave of instant torque from any rpm. Upgraded engine internals then unlock the true potential of the kit, producing up to 365bhp and 280lbft of torque on my own modified MK2 based engine, using 99 octane (UK) petrol. The huge midrange is incredibly enjoyable to use and is easily controlled thanks to the low throttled volume and precise and linear throttle control. When asked for the kit screams to redline with ferocity, puts a smile on your face everytime. I believe the TVS900 is perfect for the Mx5 platform, creating an incredibly potent sports car with delicate and linear control over the new found power.
Aided by the fantastic efficiency of the TVS900 supercharger, the kit features a hand machined water to air chargecooler. The chargecooler housing forces charge air through a pair of Laminova chargecooler cooling cores to dramatically cool the air charge, increasing charge density and knock threshold, allowing far more power to be produced than other kits on the market. The Laminova cores are a strong extruded part, sealed at each end by o-rings to the front and rear chargecooler caps. This makes the coolant system extremely simple, robust and reliable, avoiding leakage or weeping of coolant into the intake.
The TVS900 supercharger is fed by a well developed intake system. A large ITG air filter feeds air into an aluminium and silicone smooth bored intake. Air is then funnelled through a high quality 70mm throttle body into a hand fabricated intake designed to smooth the passage of air right into the back of the rotors. Testing on my own car showed the importance of adequate filter area and intake design, and all of that learning is applied to this kit.
The kit is very comprehensive. It includes a brand new TVS900 supercharger from Harrop, chargecooler, manifold, intake system with air filter (air box in pictures not included currently), set of supercharger pulleys sized for your application, brace, chargecooler pump, pipework and radiator. In addition to the kit you will need a programmable ECU, larger injectors (recommend Bosch EV14 640cc for stock block, 640-750cc for modified engines), and a suitably rated clutch.
I am now open to take orders on brand new kits, which can be done for 1.8 Mk1, Mk2 or Mk2 VVT engine cars, priced at £7000GBP, not including P&P. Compatibility with AC is currently unproven, but it looks like it is possible with manipulation of the pipework, RHD and LHD.

Unfortunately this kit is currently developed only for the 1.8 based engines, and not the 1.6. This may change in the future, so if you are dead set on keeping your 1.6 and want this kit drop me a message to discuss.
